‘O’ Restaurant Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa

Koh Samed, just four hours away from Bangkok, is justly famed for its powder soft beach and aquamarine sea. However, I discovered a little-known gourmet gem on my trip this time: the ‘O’ restaurant at Le Vimarn Cottages & Spa, owned by the Samed Resorts Group. Here is a sample of the delicacies I tasted by the beach at night, under a twinkling canopy of stars and a fresh, cool breeze once the rains had cleared.

The minestrone soup was tangy and hot, with a lot of crunchy vegetables…

For the main course, I decided to taste a couple of options as everything sounded way too tempting. If you do nothing else, you absolutely must order a pizza at the ‘O’. With an authentic wood fired oven on hand, this thin crust pizza was to die for. I opted for the simple margherita with mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil, although the restaurant serves plenty of meat and seafood variations as well. It was so good that I carried some back to my room for later…

To top this repast off was a no-contest situation – I absolutely had to settle for the decadent chocolate soufflé with just the right dash of rum, that oozed warm melting chocolate when cut and was accompanied by a serving of chocolate chip ice cream.
